Children are grouped by age, and usually race against their own age group. Sometimes races and events are combined to reduce time, but children are still competing against their own age group.

What events do they do?
The 2, 3 and 4 year olds run 3 races each night

The 5 and 6 year olds start with Long Jump, and learn the skills to throw Shot Put and Discus. They also have 3 running races.

The 7-14 year olds do 4 events each week. They do one throwing event (Shot Put or Discus), one jump event (Long Jump or High Jump) and 2 running events, usually a sprint (100m or 200m) and a longer event (400m, 800m or 1500m)

Does my child have to do all the events?
While we encourage everyone to join in, it is not compulsory to do all the events.

The Junior Track and Field section has a very new committee this season, as follows:
New Junior Track and Field Committee
Chairman - Graham Vincent
Secretary - Stacey Knowles
Treasurer - Jacci Martin

Amanda Martin
Ann Power
Donna Wallwork
Mandy kavanagh-Vincent
Phillipa Samuel
Lionel Martin

We are always in need of help in various areas of our club, from running and assisting with events and club room on club nights, clearing away training gear or support with running outside events. We heavily rely on parent volunteers for this support, and the club would not run well without it.
Please help us to help the children make the most of this opportunity!
If you can support us in any way, please contact Graham on juntrackfield@pakrun.org.nz
Thanks, Graham
